“The river moves like magic through every curve. The sheer beauty involves you and you become part of it. Campfires, starlight and deep sleeps. Paddling. Exploring. An adventure in every rapid. Your spirit soars. The only question remaining is, how soon can you experience it?”

Our Philosophy

We have come to understand that most people feel a need to immerse themselves in wilderness from time to time. Because we believe that wilderness is "medicine for the soul", our job, as a wilderness facilitator, is to assist you in discovering and accessing the personal rewards that true wilderness offers.

Discover a wilderness frontier so remote that travel remains restricted to air and water routes. Where development is rare and the local communities still speak their native language. Where all water routes connect and eventually flow north and east to the legendary Hudson and James Bay. This land, this immense and true wilderness, is the setting for all of our expeditions.

Rich in History and Culture

Travel down ancient water "highways". Native people, fur traders and European explorers all traveled these waterways for centuries. Before float planes provided access to this vast country, the canoe was the only mode of travel. Ancient community sites from 3000 BC and historic fur trade post sites from the early 1800s are located throughout the area. Today, many of the main canoe routes either pass by, begin or end in a northern community. Goods may be purchased, and services such as guided fishing trips or wildlife viewing tours are available. Arrangements should be made ahead of time. Canoe Frontier Expeditions works with a number of First Nation guiding operations. We will make arrangements for your party to experience the special tours available.
